Privacy Policy — Miusiku

Last updated: August 28, 2026

No account, no personal data collection

Miusiku is a local music player. It does not require an account, and it does not collect, sell, or share your personal information.

Your music stays on your device

Your music library and playlists are read from and stored only on your device — nothing is uploaded to any server.

Editing or deleting a song

If you edit a song's title, artist, album, or cover from within the app, those changes are written directly to the audio file itself, with your explicit permission each time (Android will ask you to confirm). The original values are kept on your device so you can restore them. If you delete a song, the app also asks Android to confirm, and the audio file is permanently removed from your device - this cannot be undone.

Casting to a TV or speaker

When you cast a song to a TV or speaker, the audio, cover art, and lyrics (if available) are streamed directly to that device over your local Wi-Fi network - none of that ever leaves your local network or passes through any external server. To show Miusiku's own on-screen design while casting, your TV also loads a small set of static interface files (no personal data, just layout and images) from a page we host at mendelatech.github.io.

Lyrics and cover art lookup (the only data sent over the internet)

To show synced lyrics, Miusiku sends the song title and artist name to the LRCLIB (lrclib.net) service over a secure (HTTPS) connection. If you ask it to look up cover art for a song, it sends the same information to Apple's iTunes Search API (itunes.apple.com) to find and download an image. If you turn on lyrics translation, the app downloads an on-device translation language model via Google Play Services (ML Kit) — the lyrics text itself is translated locally on your device and is never sent anywhere. These are the only data sent over the internet.

Permissions used

Miusiku uses the following device permissions: access to your audio files (to build your library and, when you choose to, to modify or delete a song), notifications (to show playback controls while music is playing), local network access (to cast to nearby devices), and internet access (to look up lyrics metadata for on-screen display). No analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used.

Legal notice

Miusiku is a local audio file player. It doesn't host, store, or distribute copyrighted content — playback uses only the audio files already on your device, and lyrics are shown purely as on-screen metadata for personal viewing, sourced from the file's own tags or from LRCLIB, a public lyrics database.
